Mama's got a brand new bag!

LOOK! I MADE A BAG! It has two straps and the seams are pretty straight and the handles are awesome and it has a boxey bottom. I am so in love. I can't believe I pulled this off. It's a bag. It's a bag. I made it. I made it! Recognize the material. It was a thrifty find. The outside is/was an old drape and the inside is a soft cotton sheet. I started with the uncut drape and sheet at about 9 AM yesterday and finished it at 10:45 AM. Daddy was home to help coral the wittle one and she was actually very cooperative during this time. I worked very slowly because I didn't want to mess up. The straps took me awhile, but they turned out pretty good. I just can't believe I made a bag. I wonder how long it would take after I got good and confident about making them.
Just realized the bag looks crooked in the picture. It isn't really. It's just how it's hanging. The left side is sticking out a bit. I must defend my bag. It is kinda floppy that's all, but that's how I like my bags.

Woo hoo! The fabric is so cute! I've got the stuff all ready to make myself a new bag too. You're inspiring me!

BTW, I've got a project to add to your Quick Crafts group on flickr, but it is so dark and rainy (soon to be snowy) here, that the pictures will be awful. It might have to wait a day or two.

I can't decided if I hate more for making a bag before me (and a beautiful one at that), or for the fact that you have glass door knobs in you house.

It's really a big toss-up.

Dee: Thankyou. I'd better make a few more before I try tellin' someone else how to make one. I'd have you so messed up.
Alicia: Thankyou. Can't wait to see what you post. I'll look forward to seeing your bag too!
Rebecca: I hope you do post. I love looking at other people crafts.

Yes, congratulations -- it looks so vintage and chic. Hooray for bags. It is so magical when you turn them right side out and they work!

Wish I had something to show for the weekend... besides a less feverish girl, of course.

I love the fabric you chose. Your bag looks great. Once you get the general idea you can do all sorts of variations on that style bag. If you would rather it be stiffer try using some fusible interfacing. It makes a world of difference.

Amy: I was so scared when it was time to turn it inside out. But then I did and it was right. I almost fell outta my chair! 8-)

Autum: I'm scared of interfacing for some reason. Maybe my 5th or 6th bag I'll get brave enough. 8-) Thank you.

Dawn: I hope that's true! thank you.

Tasha: Sassy lady? Me? no way. Just a dork. 8-] Thank you!

From one bag lady to another: Great job! I made my first bag last year, and I've made about 20 more since. What fun! Bags are fun and yours is cool!
